Projects Recap 2018— 315 Designs
Happy New Year!
Well another year has come and gone in a flash. A few years back I realized that there is much value in reviewing my work one year at a time, so every January now, I sit down and comb through my social media posts, review emails and projects that I worked on for the past year. Then I mull over this information and translate where I have grown, what I have learned and what I feel I should do going forward.
A few Interesting Projects To Note
There are always a few projects throughout the year, that I really enjoy and that is what I love about my job. The connections I make and the relationships I build, are all perks for me.
Mobile Web Design | The Todd Hobin Band
In 2018 I had the pleasure of making some great new connections like Central NY’s own favorite musician, Mr. Todd Hobin! I was thrilled to work with Todd to re-design his website. Todd needed a new modern, mobile-friendly website design so we met to discuss some possible design options. First and foremost I learned that he wanted to showcase his current upcoming events on the home page along with a calendar for easy access to dates and times. Plus, after our discussion and learning so much about the various projects he is involved in, (amazing guy by the way!) I suggested that we also add another summary of posts written by Todd himself.
What’s unique about this design project is that the website will be constantly evolving as Todd is involved with many various activities from music and art to teaching, so he has a lot going on. This means constant updates are a must to keep the latest information front and center. We don’t want to disappoint his fans!

Poster Design | Jazz Festival 2018, Fulton NY
Poster design for the 2018 Jazz Fest was an interesting project. I’ve created the poster design for the past 3 years, but it was a little different this year because it was their 10th anniversary and they moved from the usual location over by the lake to Canal Park near Tavern on the Lock where the original Jazz Fest’s were held, So I needed to design something snazzy that would attract people to the new location which was down by the river. I also opted to create a new logo using their original logo in white, paired with additional text: ‘riverside’ 2018.

Logo Design | Pauline’s Closet
In collaboration with Chirello Advertising for Catholic Charities of Oswego County, I created a custom logo for their thrift store “Pauline’s Closet” in honor of Mrs. Pauline Mirabito, who was a dedicated supporter of the organization.
Summer Surface Pattern Design Challenge
This past December, I participated in a design challenge hosted by the creators of MOYO Magazine based in the UK. MOYO Magazine is a wonderful publication that covers all things surface pattern design. Just looking at this magazine will drive you wild with inspiration!
The challenge presented participants with a surface pattern creative brief and an opportunity to show finished works in their gallery.
The Challenge was to create a pattern inspired by Folk Fiesta. Think ‘Day of the Dead’. The obvious choice is to do something floral, using bright festive colors. I saw a lot of sugar skulls and they were beautiful. Below is my mood board which I created to try and hone in on my ideas and give myself some direction.
Mood Board Creation
The Pattern I came up with included some custom florals I created.. then I toyed with various color schemes. Below are the three color palettes I liked most.
