Why Impressions Matter on Your Website

This is a topic that comes up regularly when designing websites for my valued clients…. the dreaded employee headshot! 🤦‍♀️ 🤦‍♀️

Picture this, 📷 You have a beautiful, fresh, modern, branded website boasting your products and services. It works so well that you are continually growing and expanding and therefore hiring staff!

New staff comes onboard and you ask them for a copy of their headshot so it can be added to your website and alas! They send you a selfie taken at a wedding or a bar!

Now I’m not bashing selfies, I think they are super fun and have their place but if we want the website to look well branded and consistent, a selfie just won’t do!

So what should you do? If you are not quite ready to have a pro take your employees headshot, then you can set up a station at your office, shop or even a public place that will work. Consistent natural lighting and proportions are key!

  1. Take the photos using a good camera. Have a newer iphone? They take magical shots!

  2. Have employee dress like they would on the job.

  3. Have the photos edited to look consistent!

  4. Make it part of the onboarding process.
